Despite my increasing age and my ever-slowing hand-eye coordination, I found immense enjoyment in every aspect of AAC+.įrom the moment I booted up the game I knew I was onto something different to most twin-sticks. ![]() Somehow, someway, the developers at Witch Beam have created a game that goes against everything I thought I’d known about myself and what I enjoy in games. Despite this, I’ve avoided the game like the plague, I absolutely hate twin-stick shooters and bullet-hell games, so this really didn’t appeal to my senses whatsoever. My Twitter feed seemingly has someone talking about Assault Android Cactus+ every time I open my app. ![]() A twin-stick shooter that has gotten non-stop rave reviews every time it has been released on a new platform seems like a no-brainer for just about anyone to buy straight away. ![]() ![]() ![]() With terrifying enemies waiting around every dark corner, Barry will need to use his ammo and weapon supply wisely, in classic survival horror style. ![]() ![]() Necessary cookies are absolutely essential for the website to function properly. We’re really not sure why it needs to go through the Greenlight process as the devs have already proved themselves with the original, but if you want to see more of this marvelous momentum based action platformer please send a vote their way to help get it on Steam as soon as possible!Ĭheck Out a Freedom Planet 2 Gameplay Video Hereĭownload The Freedom Planet 2 Alpha Demo Here (Windows & Mac)Ĭategories Arcade, Download, Indie Tags alpha testing, Freedom Planet 2, Freedom Planet 2 alpha, Freedom Planet 2 alpha demo, Freedom Planet 2 download, game alpha test, indie games Post navigation Judging by the current build, Freedom Planet 2 is shaping very nicely indeed. We highly recommend playing through the level with each character, as each one makes the same level feel like a significantly different experience (we’d recommend leaving Lilac The Dragon last though as her abilities feel a little overpowered and it makes the game a little too easy.) The Current Alpha Demo features one huge level with a vast array of possible routes, a boss fight and all four playable heroines. All of the other characters abilities have been refined too, and crucially, each one is just as fun as the other to play as (there’s no Big The Cat here). The original’s all female character roster of Lilac, Carol and Milla are joined by Neera the Frost Knight, who has some (literally) super cool moves of her own that make her just as fun to play as her companions. As well as receiving a serious bump in resolution, it features an item based flexible difficulty system, fully reworked character models, the ability to parry attacks, the ability to instantly revive with limited health (at the cost of a life) and four playable characters. ![]() Freedom Planet 2 is a fantastic looking follow up to the critically acclaimed original which featured fast paced action platforming that put a certain blue hedgehog to shame.įreedom Planet 2 continues the fast paced momentum focused gameplay of the original, but adds a whole lot more. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The only problem with the game is the level design. The 16-bit graphics are spot on, and developers also added the possibility of seeing the game in full screen, although in might seem weird on a wide screen monitor. What’s interesting is that the game looks and feels at times like it’s some sort of Sonic clone, only to remove that feeling a minute later with an insane new level. In Freedom Planet, you’ll be using a couple of characters, Lilac, and Carol, who also happen to have various powers, each useful in certain situations. Two friends, Lilac, and Carol, enlist in the adventure of their lives trying to set things right.Īs you can imagine, a 2D platformer means that you’ll be going forward in the levels, defeating enemies, and advancing the plotline. From what we could gather, a kingdom is taken over by an evil warlord, who also places a puppet on the throne. ![]() Unfortunately, the demo version doesn’t contain any campaign levels, and we’re only left to play some of the challenges. It will punish players for not being good enough, and that’s something that is sorely missing from today’s gaming world, with a few exceptions. It’s a complex and fun game, but above all, it’s really difficult. GalaxyTrail wanted to replicate that feeling with Freedom Planet and they were successful in their attempt. It could take players are really long time to complete a game, but the challenge was more important than the game itself. You could spot them from a distance because the all used quirky artwork, insane speeds for characters, and they were really difficult to beat. More than 25 years ago players only had a handful of games experience and most of those were classic 2D platformers. It shows that the golden age of gaming hasn’t been forgotten and that developers still know how to make classic games. ![]() Freedom Planet is a classic 2D platformer build and published by a studio named GalaxyTrail. ![]() ![]() This edition of the Tetracast features Josh Torres ( Adam Vitale ( James Galizio ( and Chao Min Wu.
